Elsa Johnson Tarantal

Elsa Johnson Tarantal is currently a professor at the University for the Arts in Philadelphia, where she has sculptures in many public spaces.  She spends summers painting on Cape Cod and served as Co-Chair of Truro’s Castle Hill Center for the Arts.  Originally, Tarantal focused her talents on both bronze and ceramic sculpture, and is a member of the National Sculpture Society. Her sculptures reflect her interest in the human form and natural surroundings. Tarantal’s Cape Cod landscapes in acrylic are painted en plein air and feature the changing tides as well as changing seasonal light and color.  She has been awarded residencies at the National Seashore’s Dune Shack program for artists and writers, and has had solo exhibits at the Kendall Gallery.
